If I want a kiss in the morning, I'll wake up the significant other
The program allows you to turn the sound off, but not change it. The sound schemes in Control Panel don't seem to address it, and I cannot find a kiss.wav anywhere.
I'm guessing it's embedded in a dll, but before I go resource digging I thought I'd ask....
-
whats the best fingerprint software? I want to be able to use fingerprint to sign into email, programs, games, etc.
-
It would be nice if there was some other software to use but I don't know if there is. It doesn't work with Firefox, so really the only time I use it is when I logon.
About that "kiss" sound, it is kind of annoying and would be nice to be able to change it. Never heard it described as a "kiss" sound but now that I have, it really does seem to fit. -
me and another guy look for couple days couldt find anythign that would support it
-
After knoodling it around in my head for several days, I came up with a way to change it.
Since there was no registry or initialization file pointing to a sound file, I was pretty certain it was embedded in an exe or dll file.
There are a couple of programs that let you sift through these files for resources like sound waves, icons, bitmaps, etc
I used an old program called resource hacker that I've used for years, but it is no longer being developed to sift through the vitakey directory in program files and finally found the stupid kiss sound in a file called "CustomRes.dll"
Now, while I've used this program for changing out icons, I've never used it for sound files and could not get it to work for some reason....I think it is because Resource Hacker doesn't correctly list the resource name.
I went looking for another similar program and found Resource Tuner (free trial for use for 30 days--very nice and easier to use, might buy this one, but at $39 it's a bit high for something I would rarely need, but very nice piece of work), which worked fine, so I replaced the Kiss sound with the Windows Chime.
There is also a program called XNResource Editor that I never quite got to that might work.
Now, the only drawback is that the Chime wave is larger than the kiss file so (since it is larger) the sound stumbles a little as it blames...instead of chiiimme, it goes chii-imme....
The DLL file also greatly increases in size...I think I might have better results with a smaller file
Either way, no more KISS when I log in.... -
upload with a cool sound ? be very nice of you
-
what cool sound would you like? Pick a wave file from windows and I will throw it up
-
How about a voice that says "verified"?
-
well, unless you want me saying "verified," you need to point me to a wave file.
I looked real quick and couldn't find anything, but found two kind of neat files here
http://simplythebest.net/sounds/WAV/TV_show_wavs_2.html
success: Identification confirmed
fail: Negative
But, are you sure you want a voice? I would think that might get tedious after a while... -
I can only speak for myself. Yes I would like a voice. I am in the army, and army guys are famous for giving a name to their prized possessions.
-
we need ARnold to say FAIL in his accent lol
verified and FAIL would be nice but the failed has to be cool sounding because every one loves it when you fail -
well, you show me the file and I will do it for you--I am actually quite happy with the chime noise now. It hasn't stuttered again like it did previously so that may have been an abberation

dude pick something cool outta here i think you'll like the site too

Extract. Reboot into safe mode
Place the file into the
C:\Program Files (x86)\VitaKey\AC5032
folder
overwrite or move what is there)
(you may wish to make a backup of the existing file first)
Reboot.
You should have your new sound -
thank you +1

i posted in the alienware forums and credited to you

FYI the new Vitakey Software doesn't have the "kiss" sound when you use it anymore.
Anyone know a way to change the kiss noise on the fingerprint reader?
