Anyone know what the RAM specs are on these coming from Xoticpc?

Finally bit the bullet and ordered my whitebook from XoticPC, but I couldn't justify the extra $120 for two more GBs of RAM when I have an extra stick sitting here. The only thing is, the memory I have here has timings and latency of 7-7-7-20, and all the OCZ RAM is see is 8-8-8-27.

p.s.--it appears there was a $50+ price drop today on the whitebook at seveal resellers.

what kind of ram did you get from xotic? what make and model is it?? it will be on the sticker on the stick itself. and even still it doesnt matter the ocz has looser timings and yours will be fine. it almost always when you tighten the timings up you have to make sure the ram can handle it.

I didn't receive it yet (just ordered) so I don't know the timings yet on the one I will be receiving.

As for pricing, XoticPC was listing the base price of the whitebook at $1779 on Sunday; on Monday, it is listed at $1725.

RK Computers dropped it to $1755.00; I can't recall what it was before that (plus you can add the promo code fifteen to drop it another $15)

PCMicroworks dropped their's as well by adding $950 to the price then offering a discount of $1000....gotta love those guys.

Now, when you start adding other things the prices of componants may have gone up or down. As for my spec, I was able to get it below $2000 (budgetary considerations require compromises) whereas earlier I was always pushing near $2100

Ram was about 40 bucks less if you bought it separately from the notebook. all you have to do then is just insert it. I know coz I bought mine separate.. though I havnt received it yet :(...

The price for the barebones has not changed, but the price of components has. That's why my prices have dropped. I can't speak for XoticPC or RKC, but I'm guessing it's the same for them.

Ahh, I see. I was sorely tempted to go for a barebones and do it myself and save about $150, but then you don't get the 3-year complete care and the no-dead pixel guarantee.

Incidently, XoticPC just added more RAM configurations in the last hour so you can now get this model with 6 or 8 gbs

Shane, you may want to look at your website.

I was looking there and there are problems with your shopping cart on the whitebook.

When you make changes to the configuration and click add to the shopping cart, the changes are added, but not the base system.

At least, that is what happened when I tried to use it with the Opera 9.51 and firefox browsers

Yeah, I'm in the middle of trying to make the page display a running total and it's not working right. That bug should be fixed now (I still can't figure out what's wrong with my total code...).

How do you get into the BIOS on the Whitebook? Boots too fast. Used to be Ctrl+Alt+Del keys.

I presume there is no way to alter the CAS timings in the BIOS in case you want to overclock the RAM.

You have hit hit F2 really fast because the Intel screen flies by so quickly. And no, there is no option to mess with the timings in the BIOS.

Adjustable DDR3 voltages and XMP memory support via the bios was supposed to be an option but has not been implemented yet.

The last info I received from OCZ was that this should be available in a future bios release.
