I purchased & downloaded it on the 26th.. had some trouble with the wireless driver, had to get a thumb drive & another laptop to download the correct driver off the VIZIO website. other wise its decent but better suited to a tablet than a non touchscreen laptop IMO. I started with a 128gb SSD showing 70gb free running Microsoft Win 7 Signature Edition. Now its showing around 50gb free after the win 8 Pro install.... I wonder if there is a way to free up some space. I spoke with both VIZIO & Microsoft & was told I'm best off just leaving things be. I was hoping to delete the win 7 partition but was told that could cause trouble down the road if I ever needed to do a recovery... Any thoughts guys?

I went ahead and updated to Windows 8 after making my original post. For $14.95 its a no brainer price wise and I develop software so really wanted a portable Win8 box to code on.

I had the same problem you did with the wireless driver, called vizio support and they emailed me the driver. It was cool talking to a support staff actually in america. (over 1/2 of vizio's employees are US based customer support). Other than the wireless driver the install went off without a hitch. Everything works.

I noticed the same thing you did with disk space going way down. If you look on your ssd there is a windows.old folder that is basically a renamed copy of the windows 7 'windows' folder. Once you are satisfied that everything is working fine you can use disk cleanup to kill this folder. I think its about 17gb on my system.

Windows 7 booted in about 15-20 second on my 14ct-a0 but windows 8 boots in 9 seconds flat. Really like it.

Told the vizio rep that if they made this with a touch screen id be upgrading and was told he thought they were adding touch for the second generation notebooks being designed now.

Thanks for the reply Sir. I Agree fully, VIZIO support is Top Notch. Im really liking Windows 8 now also. Just took a day to get used to it now I enjoy the new interface. I've been waiting a few days before I remove the Win Old file just to be sure I don't need anything from it. So far my ct14 is running smooth & Fast. When removed I stand to gain 26GB back on my SSD :) Win 8 for 16 bucks that is win-win.

I installed Win 8 and had many problems. The biggest problem was the latest driver for the Wireless Card. My internet kept ed dropping off, plus all my function keys quit. On Win7 this was the best PC I've owned. I finally had to return it. I think I'll have to wait till Vizio can build Win 8 laptops.

talked to support, this is the fix, my internet no longer drops on windows 8
u have to uninstall the driver 3 times lol sounds weird but it works

Jacob: First you'll need to download the Win8 Wireless driver from the VIZIO Website. Then follow these steps:
    1. In desktop press WINKEY + X and press Device manager on the context menu on the bottom left.
    2. When Device Manager opens open the Network Adapters list and Right Click “Qualcomm Atheros” and Uninstall.
    3. A window should appear to confirm Device Uninstall, Check “Delete the driver software for this device”, Press OK.
    4. Reboot the PC
    5. Run the WLAN installer and check remove to uninstall the software windows could not delete.
    6. Reboot the PC
    7. Run the WLAN installer and to install, it will ask to launch the installer, keep it checked and run the installer.
    8. In the installer it will come with “Previous Installation detected”, Check Uninstall and press OK to remove, Press OK to remove profiles. Press Finish
    9. Reboot the PC
    10. Run the WLAN installer and check remove to uninstall the software once more.
    11. Reboot the PC
    12. Run the WLAN installer and complete the installer now. (It should install straight forward now). Finish. Wi-Fi should work without rebooting now.
    13. Double check to see if “Metered Network” Is turned off in PC Settings > Devices.
    14. Test the wireless now.
Jacob: Follow these steps as this will completely uninstall the wifi driver and reinstall them.

not sure, i haven't tried, because i actually
prefer it this way - where the function keys/smart keys working only when you press the "Fn" key. i use the Fn keys a lot, for screen shots, refreshing, saving and other custom function i set up

i uninstalled the smartkeys back when my laptop had windows 7,
