as i said it says it but the sony authorized dealer link isnt on their site.

It might be that P1 is considered small scale by sony and therefore not mentioned on the sony site.

That's what I'm hoping, so I'm anxious to hear an official answer from ivang or someone else from P1 on this. For me it's less of an issue of whether or not P1 is an authorized Sony dealer, but whether or not the information on the website/FAQ is correct or misleading. Yes, I know they don't show Sony's authorized dealer logo, but their website clearly states that they're a certified Sony service center at least.

I'll just say I'd be more comfortable buying from P1 if they can confirm / clarify the authorization that is claimed on the website and on the FAQ, as quoted above.

Edit 7/21/2008: I should add that this matter is not only of interest to me - even now people are considering SonyStyle, Fry's, etc. over P1 because of this concern, unfortunately. I'm sure it would be really helpful if this issue could be clarified ASAP.

Update: Thanks to SoundsGood, we've verified that Portable One is in fact a authorized Sony dealer, just not on the consumer side, but the business side (which is why it seemed like P1 wasn't at first).

Here's the link to Sony's business site confirming this:

That "where2getit.com" page was linked to directly from Sony's official business site. If you don't believe me, go to "b2b.sony.com", select "How To Buy -> Locate A Reseller", click "Launch Locator" for "Business Solution Products: VAIO Notebooks, [etc]", and then you can type in the ZIP code.

I highly doubt Sony would refer you to a reseller that they don't approve or authorize.
