I used to have a Dell laptop from which I could output the image into the composite input of my TV. Is there a reasonable way to do this from the Averatec 2370? To other types of TV inputs?

The easiest way is to buy a VGA to NTSC adapter.
I happen to have a decent unit that I have been thinking of selling - send a private message if interested - but only if serious. I'm rather busy just now to respond to a gaggle of tire kickers.
Thanks- -
Jim, can't see how to send a PM. I'm interested but the level of my interest is inversely proportional to the cost.
In passing, I found your postings in previous incarnations of Averatec boards informative and useful.

Chutsman, I tried that and got a drop-down box with 3 options:

Sorry to be a knothead. -
how good is htis laptop?

I think the reason is you don't have a certain minimum number of posts to your name. I think I've seen others say you have to have at least 7.

You will need to post an email address I can get to. You don't have enough posts in this forum to allow private messages - or perhaps you didn't set permission in your profile to receive PM's.
The unit is a TView Micro SXGA (not the lower capability unit - the 'S' model variation means input up to 1280X1024).
I have one other individual who is interested. -
Jim,
I THINK I just sent you a PM.

The cheapest way to get video out on a laptop (though likely won't work with this model) is to use one of these cables:

dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10282
dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10281

The chip supports it (if you have an up to date driver).

3) Now, the big IF is whether the chip is wired to the VGA port on these laptops.
I've searched around and found several questions on the matter, but no positive answers. So, no success cases reported mean it's probably unlikely this works. Still, no one has reported clear failure either. It might just be that the necessary pieces haven't been connected, but waiting for the first person to do so.
In case anyone gives this a try, several threads suggested turning down the resolution to 640x480 or 600x800 60Hz as a necessary step.

The Averatec 2300 series / Everex ST5340 and the rest of the true TwinHead H12F clones, use the Nvidia Go 6100 GPU, not an Intel chip. There is no embedded composite video in the VGA port. -
Yontboy, There has been a lot of varied opinion on the various boards about this computer. I've hauled mine back and forth between Asia, the US and Europe several times and am quite pleased with mine. I've had it for two years.

Oh, you're right. I was thinking of another notebook with the Intel chips as an option. Anyway, it's probably a 6100 in there, but this person (probably incorrectly) reports it as a 6150, which in some versions may have needed capability. I wouldn't hold my breath, but some prospector may get lucky.

Best option is probably just to spend the money on a new laptop, maybe one of those new netbooks.
