Does anyone know how to force this laptop to display at 1680x1050 using the video out port? I got it hooked up to a Samsung 21.6" 216BW LCD, I can see the following resolutions from the Display control panel:

    800x600
    1024x768
    1152x864
    1280x960
    1280x1024
    1400x1050
    1600x1024
    1600x1200
    1920x1080
    1920x1200
    1920x1440
    2048x1536

I currently have it set to 1600x1024, but the screen fonts are not clear because the Samsung LCD's optimal resolution is 1680x1050. I contacted Averatec support and the person told me the integrated video graphics (GeForce Go 6100) does not support that range. I found it a little hard to believe because I can actually change to a higher resolution like 1920x1080. Being less than 1920x1080, I think the 1680x1050 resolution should easily be supported. Is there a hack to force this laptop to show 1680x1050 while connected to an external LCD?

Thank you sir, unfortunately, the default Nvidia control panel that came with my laptop looks nothing like that. I actually have something called "NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager". Anyway, I solved the problem just moments ago by uninstalling the display driver, and installing the NVIDIA Omega Driver instead. It worked perfectly after this! So for anyone who ran into this problem, the Omega Driver is your fix. The GeForce Go 6100 does support 1680x1050 but Averatec denies it. I've also managed to contact Nvidia, they also recommended me to install a modded driver.
