I've had my 3270 for about 2+ years and after a full charge, I get about 30 min max. I've done the battery calibration, etc. What's the longest battery I can get at a good price?

I don't have a direct answer for your question, but what I have recently done is take apart my old battery, search the part number for the cells on EBay (you need six) and ordered them. Haven't soldered them yet (and I see a warning on another post of cooking a diode in the charge circuitry in the battery pack).

Cost $40 from China Goods. EBay sent notice that vendor was taken off their list, but don't know why. Batteries came OK. In fact, I ordered the wrong set (four instead of six), set vendor an email and they canceled that order for me.

When I checked at the time, a replacement battery was about $90. I just checked again and there are a slew of batteries for less than $40, then they jump to $90 range. Dunno why, as they all seem to be same 4400 mAh...

    http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=averatec+3270+battery&sacat=58058%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32&fsoo=2

On the old Averatec forum, someone found cells with more capacity than the originals that would fit in the old case, but I didn't.

Interesting. Keep me updated if you find anything else, or what you end up doing.

    That's me :D

Actually the short was from mucking around without everything properly enclosed in the battery casing. For some reason I couldn't start the computer on re-celled battery alone - I had to "jump start" with the adapter then I could unplug it and it would run fine. I left the battery's innards hanging out while checking the voltage and stuff and it shorted out on the laptop casing.

Don't do what I did and just get a new cell. BTW if you do get a new cell I'll buy your old one ;)

I remember seeing a 9 cell battery pack for a short time on Ebay, but can't find them anywhere anymore. Were they recalled? From the look of it they stacked another 3 cells under the existing 6 cells so the laptop would sit off the ground which I think is actually not a bad idea. I might get some extra cells and try that for myself...

PS I got 2600 mAh 18650 from all-battery.com which would give you 5200 mAh at 11.1V which is a bit of an upgrade from stock.

PSS 2600 mAh x 9 cell would give you 7800 mAh... yummy.

Since I've already got the six cells, I know I won't be able to resist putting them in the old case after my new one gets here.

I do most of my internet stuf at a coffee shop with WiFi, so lots of battery would mean I could sit anywhere rather than just at the tables near the few wall outlets! Nine of the original cells (2600) would be 6600 -- Not as good as 7200, but better than 4000 or 4400.

Hey again. Noone seems to have a battery for mine.

Here is where I get confused. On the back of my laptop on a big grey sticker it says, "3280 series, part # 3280". Then below that on a small white sticker which shows the manufactured date, etc., it says 3250 series, part # 3270-EH1.

I can't find any batteries for this one.

3270 battery is different than the one of 3200 and 3300 series.
3270 has two latches at the bottom to lock battery.
The rest of 3200 and 3300 series has only one latch at the bottom and use the same battery.

    In short:
    -One latch: 3220,3225,3250,3300.
    Two laches: 3270.

Thanks for your help. So, can you link me to an ebay auction or somehwere to a battery that will work for mine? Some of these ebay auctions say they will fit, but I'm not sure they know if it will, or if it's a misprint.

I see a lot of 3270 battery on Ebay. Just type " Averatec 3270 battery " in the search box, you'll find them.

Make sure it's not for 3220 or 3250 or 3300 as these battery won't fit to a 3270 model which has two latches to lock battery.

Steer clear of the vendors from China on eBay, unless you'll be happy with a "new" 4400mAh battery that gives only 1.5 hrs when new. I bought from two different vendors earlier this year and both are now down to 1 hr. The battery that came with the Averatec gave 2.45 hrs when new and they were lower capacity type - 4000mAh.

I would also not use a battery refil service unless you live close enough to be able to send it back for little postage to get another that will give the claimed run time.

Ok, I'm ready to get a battery for my 3270. I usually leave it plugged in most of the time when at home, but I have a trip coming up soon, and will need to use the battery. So, are you saying I should just buy an OEM battery since it's better quality? What about the BTI (Battery Technologies) brand?
