    Hi All,

New to the forum, just bought this laptop over the weekend. I've been following the boards and have a question. Do any of you know if this model has the magnesium alloy casing, I know the AMD version states that it has the magnesium alloy casing on the sticker but the centrino one I got doesn't say it! And as usual the Techs at Averatec have no clue (I called to inquire this morning).

    Thanks much

As far as I can tell, the 3270 and 3360 use the same case (being essentially the smae computer with different makes of processor)...so yes, I think it is the magnesium alloy.[8D]

I own a Gateway and an AVERATEC networked to a 3-year-old HP...could be worse, I could own an eMachines and a Compaq networked to a 1996 Packard Bell.

Thanks for the info. I actually got a reply this AM from customer care (I emailed them a week ago). My question was about the casing and the dead pixel policy ... here is their reply:

" Yes, the bottom casing is made from magnesium. Our policy on dead pixels is extremely lenient, compared to other manufacturers. Whereas most manufacturers require 8 or more dead pixels, we will replace the LCD if there are 5 or more damaged subpixels. In addition, if 2 or more are within a 20mm diameter or on the same line, this would also apply."
