    Hi there,

I want to upgrade the memory on my Averatec 3700 (AV3715EH1) and I guess that the slots are under the keyboard (they are definitely not on the bottom). Could anybody please tell me now to remove the keyboard safely? Thanks!

Right now the computer has 512 MB RAM (1 chip) and I want to upgrade to 1 GB ( 2 x 512 MB). Will I notice any difference in speed with that? I'm basically using the computer only for web browsing, Skype and email while on the road, like it very much but find it somewhat slow (startup, starting applications, web browsing).

    Thanks for your replies!

For adding RAM, you don't need to open the unit completely. Just remove the keyboard. remove srews at the bottom case, no need to remove screws holding LCD. Then carefully lift up the uppercase a little bit, RAMs are under your palmrest, near touchpad. There are 2 sockets for RAM, if you're unlucky, Averatec used 2 sticks of 256MB ram, you have to buy another 512MB to get 1GB of ram.

Thanks for your tips! It's a little more complicated than I thought but I think I can do that ...

    hi
sorry I am new, I don't know how to help you with the keyboard, but i am in desperate need of how to get a recovery disc without paying a fortune for it. our 3700 has not worked since the day I got it for daughter, but I have cancer and yes I bought warranty and extra even, but just never was in the health to deal with it, now of course the warranty has expired and even though they show records of my attempts to get a disc, they won't help me?
