ok I'm a bonehead because I wiped the drive on my 3700 and inadvertently wiped out the Phoenix Recovery Software as well which has all the drivers for USB bridge and the controller which allows you to used internal wireless. I have called the technical hotline and left messages, I've even talked to a couple different people but they all say they don't have the recovery disk for this model yet nor are the downloads on the website correct. I can get my drive reformatted with xp home if I send it in but I don't really want to spend the $120 bucks. Does anyone have or know where to get the recovery CD or the drivers for the USB controller? Thanks in advance!!!
    PS:I have the EH1 model.

I supposed you can try googling for "averatec 3700 usb controller eh1" or something like that. Or you can try other USB controller, since USB controller is a pretty general devices, it might work, although it might cause system instability, so you might want to be careful with it so that you don't lose your data and all.

Trust me I have googled til my fingers hurt and this driver is nowhere to be found, I mean if Averatec doesn't even have it on their website then finding it on the net will be impossible. Thought maybe someone might have been down this trail and had the fix but I may have to wait for Averatec to post it on the website.

Could you post which device doesn't have driver ? You can look at device manager for devices which have yellow marks. Most drives are downloadable as I have never used Averatec softwares. My 3700 is loaded with XP Pro then Vista Ultimate without any problem of finding drivers.

    Beut,

I hear you have a 3700, I need your help, please.

I wiped mine with hardkill and then using a dos boot disk fdisk'd both partitions till there were none.

When I put in my bootable xp pro cd and boot, I get press any key to boot from the cd, then it starts loading all the junk and then after about 2 minutes it says starting windows, flashs on the screen for a split second the "will boot in ... seconds", and then reboots and asks me again to press any key to boot from the cd and repeats the process all over. It loops forever!

    Do you know what's up?

    Thanks, Avy

Probably you have a bad CD. I installed both XP and Vista on a 3700 laptop without any problem. It runs fine with dual OP.

Hi Beut, thanks for the quick reply!

The cd is fine it works on other pcs.
I loaded Vista and that worked ok!

Before you reinstalled XP did you use fdisk to remove all your partitions?
I think I went too far back, I like to start with a blank pc (no partitions).
I used hardkill and then a dos boot disk with the newer fdisk to delete all partitions. Then the XP cd wouldn't take.

Do you know where to get the 3700 Vista drivers?
I'm now trying the ones for the Averatec AV2370.
The Averatec website only has Vista drivers for the AV2370, AV7100 and the AV7170. Which ones did you use?

    Thanks,
    Avy

I will suggest you should boot your XP by inserting your XP cd into your rom instead of running the olds fdisk (bootdisk or bootXP disk) make sure you set your BIOS on bootup with CDrom first then boot with your WinXP cd. then choose boot with cdrom then your all set. I will not recommand you use the dos disk to run your formatting or partition, because Windows XP is NTFS, and the old DOS boot is Fat 32/16.
I had a Averatec 3700 notebook before last year, I had no problem with booting and install XP, It was fine, as I say the way I recommanded. Try again. Good Luck.

Pretty much like everything Averatec does these days, their driver web page is screwed up. Sometimes it finds the drivers, some times it doesn't. Just as a matter of curiousity I tried finding the WLAN drivers for the 3715-EH1. By selecting WLAN it kept coming back with Videoa. If you click the line below WLAN (it's empty) and select Go you then get the WLAN driver. Dated 2/6/2006. Might be one piece of what you need. USB drivers should be part of the Operating Sytem load. You may be able to find other drivers once you get XP going and get the hardware info in System Information
