I just picked up my laptop from Walmart tonight. So far this is what i think of it.
Screen: Very bright, played a dvd and it displayed a clear sharp picture.
Construction/Weight: pretty sturdy, not too heavy, much lighter than my compaq laptop. I am not a big fan of widescreen laptops, so this model will fit into a standard laptop bag without any problems. Bag is included with laptop as well, but i elected to buy a kensington saddle bag for more storage.
Features: Windows XP home, no office suite installed, I installed office 2003 with out any problems.
Networking: Wireless powered right up without any problems. I haven't tested the range, but it gets a signal throughout my house without any problems.
Multimedia: The Speakers could be a little louder, but decent. DVD playback was smooth and not choppy. I haven't tested the DVD/CD burning features yet.
I like what i see out of this laptop. I feel that it is definitely worth the price. I will primarily use this laptop for school/work purposes, so I don't really need a high end model.

sounds like a good deal, Averatec offers a good bang for the buck in the feature for price category. You mind me asking how much you paid for this?

it was $998.00 that includes a carrying case. After taxes it came up to $1059.00
