My 6100 came with a wireless card. SiS 900 I believe. I've been trying to install Windows XP Professional (with Service Pack 2) on the laptop (I'm quite sick of home) Everything works fine save for the wireless connection. Windows does not recognize any wireless card. I have tried the original drivers from the Averatec Factory discs, and have tried drivers from the SiS site itself. Neither will work. In fact, the AGP factory driver from the Averatec Recovery discs cause Windows Professional (SP2) to stop being able to even open control panel.
Is there anything I can do?

the SIS 900 is NOT wireless, its the port where you plug the network cable into. The wireless card is a ralink card. http://www.ralinktech.com/drivers/Windows/IS_STA_2500_D-3.0.2.0_U-2.3.4.0_031405_1.0.0.8.exe
There's the direct link for the wireless drivers, enjoy.

If the drivers from the disk don't work, there may be newer/better ones at the averatec site. In most cases the distribution discs that come with anything (not just PC, but mp3 players, peripherals, etc - my mini disc recorder came with software that was two releases back from the newest) are outdated. I avoid using them unless there is no other recourse. Check averatec's site, and if that avails thee not, hit up the OEM sites...
Make sure you're completely updated as well...once SP2 is installed or even if the version you bought has it already included in it, there's still updates on top of that...and ya need em all.
