    Hi,

I have an Averatec 6100 that shuts down after 3 or 4 seconds. You can restart it as many times as you want, but it still stops after 3 or 4 sec. I have reseated the RAM a couple times as suggested by ----------- but still no joy. I'll be happy to listen to any suggestions.

    TIA,
    Carl

This is probably a motherboard fault. Does the notebook enter POST, and show up any detailsl on the screen? If it doesn't, then it is very likely to be a motherboard fault, and they are very expensive to replace, in a notebook anyway. If your notebook is under warranty, then you may need to give Averatec a call, and ask them to repair it.

If the battery is bad it will do the same thing. Mine requires a battery to boot. Could be caused by a faulty power distribution board and/or charger.

Yup, I think it's the battery. After charging it 2 days ago & setting it aside, I tried it again today and it was absolutley DEAD. No even 1 residual volt left hangin' around in there. I ordered a new battery and we'll start over. I'll let you know what happens.
