    Hi there,
I purchased my first Averatec 6210 from Staples a month ago and had to return it because of an audio problem. The issue was that every time I played a commercial CD or DVD it would not play properly (would freeze up and there was a rattling noise. Well, since I love this model, I decided to exchance it for another one - and guess what?... - Yes, I have the same problem. I can not play a CD and enjoy the music without this annoying rattling noise.

Has anybody had a similar problem?.... What could I do to fix that?... I really love this PC model but I can't take it anymore.

    Please help!

    Thank you.

    hi,
is the cd or dvd you are trying to play dirty and does it have scratches on it. Also make sure your Direct Memory Access is enabled for the optical drive.
here are the steps to enable it.
    1. go into control panel
    2. double click the system window
    3. select hardware
    4. select device manager
    5. go over to ide ata/atapi controllers
    6. select secondary ide channel
    7. right click and select properties
    8. select advanced settings and check to see if dma is enabled, if it's not go ahead and enable it. That should fix your skipping problem. What DMA is- DMA transfers data between system memory and hardware devices without passing it through the CPU.
