I have the Averatec AV2150-EH1, it is also the MSI MS-1013, S270 model. It has worked well for about 4 years. Recently, the screen would go blank when I opened the lid beyond half way. The screen would work if I closed the lid half way or beyond. It took awhile to figure it out, but the cable that goes from the main board to the LCD inverter just below the LCD screen had a short in it. The cable runs through the lid hinge on the left side. It's a tight space where the audio cable runs through as well. Apparently, over many openings and closings of the lid, the very small wires broke. They would pull apart beyond half way of opening the lid. These cables cost over $70.. Too much for a laptop that's probably worth not much more than that. So get a soldering gun and some wire and fix it yourself. I took some wire from an old parallel port cable and repaired the cable. I made it longer so I could run it back behind the LCD display. It works. Maybe this will help someone who has the same problem. Yes, you have to take apart the LCD/ lid to disconnect and install the cable. Just be careful.
