Averatec continues their support of AMD processors in mobile applications with the launch of their new 12.1" widescreen 2200 series. The four pound notebooks are only 1" thick and are powered by AMD Mobile Sempron and Turion 64 processors.
"The newest addition to Averatec's line of ultra-thin, ultralight form-factor notebooks is optimized with today's most powerful features for enhanced mobility. And like all Averatec notebooks, the 2200 Series incorporates the latest wireless technologies and security standards, ensuring that users can safely stay connected to their digital world without compromising productivity or their online entertainment experience," said Saeed Shahbazi, president of Averatec.
The new 2200 series will be powered by either a 2.0GHz Mobile Sempron 3300+ processor or a 1.8GHz Turion 64 processor. Depending on the model, either 512MB or 1GB will be standard while all can support up to 2GB of memory. An 80GB hard drive is standard across the entire model range as is a dual-layer DVD burner, three USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire port, 4-in-1 memory reader (MS/MS PRO/MMC/SD), 802.11b/g wireless, and 10/100 Ethernet.
The new notebooks start at $899, will be available with Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional and will be carried in a wide variety of B&M retail chains as well as shopaveratec.com.
