I thought that I was the only one who had issue with the Averatec. I have an 3200 series.

My mom had brought it for me back in 2004 for christmas.

I had a crack at the top of the case.

then back in april the hinge near the right. A pice of the case cracked. and then broke off. I thought it was my fault, so I taped it together.

Then I moved, and just a month ago, it happened again to the left side. It was then that I knew that it was not my fault.

Then about 8 days ago, while using the computer. it decided to shut off on me. would not start up again.

Anyone know where I can order the lid and a new/used lcd for the averatec 7115 EH-1. I have to brace the back with one of my speakers just to keep it open when I use it now.

Wow I was surprised to see that there are sooo many ppl who have the same problems with their computer as me.

Mine had several scratches all over the case so to hide them I placed stickers over the worst one (like the averatec logo) and the corners have them to keep the cracks from growing. One day I woke up and found a nice piece of the lid fellow off the side so now there is a 1/2-1" hole in the side of the lid where the front and back meet

also i my computer over heats like no ones business. i have seen it go to 130-134F WAY too hot...it use to kick off at 123F but now it is able to go higher
I am not sure why...I have new heat sink gel and clean vents. Any advice will help. btw i replaced the 60gb 4500rpm with a 100gb 5400rpm hdd (it is suppost to run cooler and quieter..quieter yes cooler no) and 512 ram with 1.25gb ram

    Hey All,
Does anyone have any info, Phone # on where i can order the lid/cover for my AV6130HS-20, i saw above that someone got them for 10.00 and 5.00 ???
Mine is still going strong, I have Windows Ultumate installed with 2gb of ram, and 7200rpm 100gb hdd. I really think it sped up the laptop quite a bit using Vista. Generic drivers work just fine, but for the modem driver you will need to install the XP version, then search for updated driver to get it to recognize it.

I have seen it out-perform alot of the new computers that alot of my friends are paying 800.00-1100.00 for.

I play Call of Duty 4(on lower settings of course) and it runs smooth. Also it plays Flight Sim 2004 turned all the way up.

The only problems i have are when it comes out of sleep mode, the screen does not turn back on.

Also i have noticed with a couple of the PC monitors that i have, that my processor temp seems to be "stuck" @ 75c is there a way to fix this? i am just concerned about overheating if the temp sensor is not working correctly.
The rubber feet on the bottom came off a couple months after buying the lapptop, but i just called averatec today and they are shipping me 2 sets!! If you need them too just call (877) 462-3462 and talk to customer service.

I have fixed the 2 pixel "2 lines" problem with my lappy. If you look at the top of the actual lcd (inside the case) the mounting bracket on the top, middle of the screen(where 2 of the screen case screws go through) has been pushed down into the screen. to fix this, just gently lift up on the outer sides of that mount to gently pull the metal away from the lcd. You can leave the two middle screws out if it ends up pushing it back down. What has happened is the screws that are used to attach the mount to the top of the lcd are installed from the inside out, and they have come loose causing them to "rub" on the top of the lcd. This may be just a quick fix, but has worked for me for awhile now (1 year). If you have the experience(i don't) you could remove the metal band from the lcd and tighten/locktite the screws. I think it is just held on by tape and lcd mounts.
    Hope this works for you.

A solution to the the Lid not staying in position: See my posting on Hinge Repair.
The solution for scratched plastic or to hide cracks. Your local sign shop has a pressue sensitive film made by 3M called Controltac (180 C 10 is white and 180 c 20 is black; there are other colors.) Another 3M product is Scotchcal that works well. I like Controltac because it will allow air to leak through the material and therefore no bubbles. With Scothchcal you have to burst each bubble with a needle to relieve the air bubble. I have done my Averatec 1050 in white and for my wife in teal. Both look like factory quality...hope this helps. It will make your computer look like new.
As far as a new or refurbished Cover, Top, Lid. www.fremontek.com has new and used. I got a refurbished one for my 7170 and it looked like new. Cost $40.00 plus S&H They call the top the "A side."

There's enough information on this forum for you to repair it. If you don't want to do that, put it on Ebay under the heading "broken Computer" or "Computer Parts." That's where I bought my Averatec and I am very pleased with my purchase. There were fourteen other bidders on my defective unit; so you see there is a market!

My 2300's hinge cover on the right side is nearly always popping off, whenever I raise the lid.
I can hear "crack" and know to open carefully.
Once open, I can re-seat it, but it's a pain, for sure.
Never know if it's going to crack off or stay in place.
