I have an Averatec 3250. Max ram is 512. I thought I had seen on the Averatec Forum, before it went out, that you could put a 1gb ram in and it would work. Anybody know if this is true or not ? Anyone out there done it and if so what kind ? Thanks all for any help

The Averatec 3250 is limited to a single memory slot occupied by the 512mb stick.
In order to upgrade, you would need a 1gb PC2700 DDR SODIMM that costs around $50-70 on newegg. Any brand should work as long as you get the right type. I think it should work despite the documented limit at 512mb. But honestly, I don't think it's worth to upgrade the Averatec 3250 as its fairly dated now. -
Thanks admlam, I'll consider the advice - if for $75 it will work a little faster on a few programs it may be worth it for now. Thanks again

My 1gig RAM got here today from Newegg. 10 minutes later it's installed and runs perfect - system reconizes 1gig just like you said. Thanks again for help. I know lappy is old but this will feel better for awhile.

Easy to install. Pull back metal clips on either side at same time and chip kinda pops up so you can switch it. -
GB Micro 1GB DDR SODIMM PC2700 2100MHz at Staples for $140 CAD
I thought my tuckered out, out date laptop slowing down with OLD AGE with only 512MB or RAM on windows XP was going to be put to rest.
So i decided to try to see if the rumours where true - worth a try and i could always return the memory stick to the store for uncompatibility.
But then... WAMMO !!!
To my surprise, my 4 year old Averatec 3200 laptop booted up like a newborn baby & was able to run 200% improuved speed !
WAY TO GO AVERATEC !
