I suspect what we have all expected to happen, has. Very little on the Averatec website functions or goes anywhere anymore. Mostly "not found" pages including Customer Care section with the drivers, etc. Hope no one out there recently bought one. One of the few working pages now says that their warranty is only 90 days.
Take the previous back. Their site is now back working again. Might have been a l-o-ong update. Anyway, best we keep an eye on it. I'm going to go ahead and download and store all my drivers on CD.

I just tried to go to their website and i have no problems browsing everything on their site. Even the download section works here.

I was told 3 years ago by an industry insider (that actually supplies Averatec with notebooks) they were going out of business in a matter of months, but now years have passed, so it's a perpetual rumor. They're still kicking.

They recently listed a new notebook on their online store, the 2375.

I don't think they've updated since last May when they released the 2371 and 1579, I was very interested in the latter but only saw it quickly on Circuit City and Target's websites and then disappeared without a trace, couldn't find it anywhere at all. -
Yeah, it was a little knee jerk on it. It was out for quite awhile. Since all big box retailers and most of the large online computer equipment resellers have dropped them, you wonder how long they can survive.
I still think it's a good idea to download and save all the drivers if you have an Averatec just in case

Roskowron is probably correct. I attempted to extend my warranty on my new 7100 SERIES, and was refunded my money because Service Net would not accept my application I was told. The on line business I purchased my computer from RCS Experience now sells the same computer for $50.00 less than I paid. The only ones that handle Averatec computers are small outlets on Amazon and eBay. Google it you will see what I mean. This company has no distribution what so ever. Check out it's so called on line partners on its web sight, none carry its products. It could be operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy by the way things look.

The download section may appear to work, but there's tons of dead links throughout. For example, I just got in an Averatec 2370 yesterday. I tried to download the latest BIOS from Averatec's website; the Winflash version was a dead link, so the only working option they offer is a floppy disk version. Yeah, floppy disk... on a 2370!
I also notice that the drivers which do work are never updated. They still offer the same original nVidia GeForce Go 6100 drivers the unit shipped with, and no one, not even nVidia, seems to have newer. -

Sometimes, some of the dead links to the XP drivers do work if you do a browser refresh. But yeah, it's a sucky support site.
As XP is a mature OS and the 2370 was really destined to be a Vista machine anyhow, the lack of newer XP drivers shouldn't be an issue. The Vista side of that coin is a whole other critter. Nvidia has updated drivers several times, but Averatec only offers the original versions.
Here is the kicker... the video driver must come from the PC manufacturer because of the ties to specific case features - lid position & Fn keys that affect video control.
On the other side, Averatec's video driver is actually a version newer than Everex's or Twinhead's for the same identical unit. -
I went on their website a month or two ago and they didnt have any of the new processors (ex:Core 2 Duo's). That may be changed now, but im guessing that you may be right. Also by reading the rest of this thread.

I think it would be real wise for any Averatec owner to get as much of the necessary resources they can get from their website because no telling how long it, and the company, will be around.
I was just trying to download the last few drivers I didn't have. Took six tries at the link before it went and then downloaded at blazing speed of my first dial-up modem, 27K.
It's taking literally an hour to finish up the Video drivers. Must be one server left and restricting bandwidth to avoid charges.
