Like most people here, my 6130 overheats, so I got a cooler fan, but when I burn a dvd, it still shuts down from overheating. so I did the thermal paste, but still have the same problem. well, enough is enough, so I brought the notebook back to where I bought it for repairs.
Being in Canada, they didn't send the notebook to Averatec (whew), but sent it to a local depot. The word is, I had bad memory, which is currently on order. Now, what's the chances that bad memory causes over heating? Not to mention, I replaced the factory memory shortly after I bought the unit, so I wasn't even running the 'bad' memory.
Just curious what you guys have to say about that. My plan is to get the notebook back, and do several dvd burns and see what happens.
fwiw, I've since bought a dell m60, and compared to the 6130, its beyond night and day.....

I take it that you removed "your" memory and replaced it with the memory it originally had before sending it for repair. In that case it hardly seems likely that the overheating was caused by memory. But stranger things have happened.

yeah, when I returned it, I re-installed the original Averatec memory. when I spoke to the tech, I asked him what the likelihood of the memory being the cause, which he said, yeah maybe.
Bad Memory causes 6130 overheating?
