hi all friends from notebook review:

i finally bought my Zepto g14b and i have to say it is a beautifull machine.

    the specs are

    2.52ghz
    4gb ram
    130m gt

ive been having problems using windows 7 ,but i think its still a early release so its not a problem.

anyway ive changed to xp and tried vista as well.

WHat is concerning me is that since the second day of use the battery icon says permanently PLUGGED IN (charging or not charging),so even if im on battery the plug icon next to the battery is there,so this means im missing proper hibernating features and i cant see time remaining...

ive tried a bios update,it worked after a reboot for a couple of minutes, then got back to the same state...today i turned on the laptop on the bus and it was ok for half an hour. Now its back to this miserable PLUGGED IN state.plus ive installed xp and it worked for some minutes ,then gone back to this.

    does anyone have any advice>???

    Million thanks

    andre

I had a similar problem when I got my 6324W a few years ago. I unprugged the battery whilst the laptop was running in windows vista, on mains and then plugged it back in. It worked for me.

As said before, you only need to take out the battery and put it back in again while you are running windows AND on AC plugged in. This is the requirement after you flash/update the BIOS.

You do not need to flash the BIOS if you are already using the latest version.

Vista normally takes some time to calculate and allow you to see the battery duration after you unplug AC. It is also best to set your machine to balance power mode to allow the laptop to save power on demand while on battery and AC.

Yes it does? The solution he gave him is correct, I remember reading this somewhere not to sure about the model though but it sounds right.

As the OP asked for help as to why his battery icon doesn't show anything other that plugged in. That is why I am stating "Er... no it doesn't". Try it. Unplug your notebook from the supply and it will show this straight away. It will take time to calculate how much battery is remaining, but it will not take any time to just accept that it is now on battery and indicate this via the system tray.
