Not likely. They don't have the ability to market here effectively without dropping several million dollars. They could get picked up by some niche retailers on the web though, but that remains to be seen.

I'm out in Asia for a few months and need to buy a notebook. I think this appears to be the winner to get my money. From what little I've seen and read on-line it sounds lik a really well designed machine. Anyone hear about availability in Hong Kong and when I can pick one up?

    Cheers,
    equipe

I was last in Hong Kong last fall. I saw lots of Joybook Benq notebooks around. Certainly I hadn't seen them before in Canada. Try the computer shopping arcade in Wanchai (next to the MTR). They seem to be quite up to date with them.

Thanks for the advice SNG, I'll check it out. And its a shame that they don't sell Benq notebooks in Canada/US. My boss just got the Joybook 6000, and its a pretty solid little machine.

Well I just picked this little beauty up yesterday evening. I bought it at Broadway, they are an electronics chain here in HK. the price was HKD$13,980. Along with the notebook I got a BenQ carry bag. A wireless mouse, wireless router, extra 256MB Ram (Kingston ram), Headset/mic combo, and the manager gave me an electric toothbrush because I had to wait for them to install english windows. They also burned me a copy of SP2.

I've only been able to play with it a few hours. But I'm quite happy so far. I'll give a more indepth review in a few days.

I want to buy a BenQ notebook, too but dont know what series i should buy.

The Benq 7000 is pretty nice, lightwight and has "better" resolution.
But i dont know if the WXGA 1280x786 is really usefull (what happens in "fullscreen-applications" like 3d-games or 3:4 Video Material? are there black stripes at the sides or is the image deformed? And i've heard that most Windows-Fonts and Stuff are deformed, very small and stuff, too. )

The new BenQ 5100-G01 is almost the same as the 7000, but has a 15" lcd, weights 2.7kg, only supports 1024x768 but therefore 4:3 and shipps with 40 instead of 60GB HDD, the Battery running time is up to 5 hours (BENQ 7000 up to 4hrs). The 5100G01 comes with DVD+r/+RW the 7000 with dvd-+r/rw.

All the other things like Wlan, Graphic-Card, Memory ... are equal to to the joybook 7000.

So what would you recommend me Benq7000 or 5100-G1?
At the moment i tend to the Benq 5100-G01 because it has longer Battery-Running time and i think 16:9 displays are not really comfortable and 1 more hour running time is very important, too.

    PS:
    Benq 7000 : 1499€
    Benq 5100G01: 1325€
    (im from germany..)

Maybe you guys can post some reviews about the 5100G01 / 7000, would be a really great help for me.
