Does anyone knows a book, a web site or document talking about the best and SAFER way to OC your laptop?

Good question Wirelessman, you can find bits and pieces in different threads about OC'ing CPU, GPU and memory. It would be helpful if it were all in thread or maybe a sticky. Of course it would be at user's risk.

The concern is do mobo vendors do it on purpose so people have fun OCing their pc's or is just it can be done and pc's user think they know better that the specifications. Is like trying to drive a car above th max speed the car was made for, is it good? Or are we trying to say that the engineers are conservative or just they don't know everything?

I find instructive whe you try to tweak the ram, or oc the cpu, it helps you to understand the limitations of the laptop, but do we know enough not to end with a toasted laptop? that's the question.

Each gpu has different limitations. Two people can have the same gpu and one can overclock 100mhz and the other only 10mhz. There are TONS of guides to oc'ing gpu's and TONS of warnings on why not to. All i can say is if you dont *need* to then dont...

    On that note;

    My overclock rocks :p

I agree, but I think we are never satisfied with the laptop response, we get used to the new speeds very quickly and we want more.

True 1+. I made through crysis 1024x768 with all on high except post processing and motion bluer with reasonable OC (630/1460/490 raster/shader/mem). Was almost comfortable to play until the very last fight, where fps was like about 2 or 3. :)

Sounds great your experiences, but I don't play those hungry fps consuming video games, but I'm wondering if my Chessmaster will benfit from OC, I guess OCing the ram will have the biggest impact, I'm not sure. thoug.

OC is all about the supported Hardware and how far you can go.
When they design say 10 cpus. 1 or 2 can be OC more then the other.
This is the same case as with the GPU, i have two Compal machine's.
    BTO 15W25A+ (compal IFL90) & BTO15W26A+ (compal JFL92) both are ident.... machine's.
The BTO 15W25A+ is running T7500 with 2GB 800Mhz mem.
The BTO 15W26A+ is running T9500 with 4GB 800Mhz mem.
The GPU for the BTO 15W25A+ is OC to 690@490.
The GPU for the BTO 15W26A+ is OC to 675@475 and higher will result in a freeze and BSOD.
SO you see not all the hardware is capable to be OC the same.

Hi Ayle, if I get the Penryn 2.4GHz, and my FSB is 800MHz, can I OC the FSB up to 1,066MHz?

... Santa Rosa and Santa rosa refresh are locked to the the 800mhz fsb... To use the 1066 you'll have to wait for montevina if my memory serves me right.
