I have the compal driver but I'm getting lower WEI scores than other people with inferior NVIDIA cards and systems, so which is the best video driver for NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT?

Id like to start off by saying WEI is a POS, and 174.74 seems to be pretty good.

Some people say that they got trouble with 174.74 while playing some games.

Hate to jump in and hijack, but I want to know where to get drivers for the 8600M GT. I just got a JFL92 and I want to get the latest drivers, as the ones on the CD are not up to date.

With my HEL80 I was stuck with what compal packaged up for the 7600GO, but is it different with a JFL92? Can I use drivers from nvidia.com or some other site?

I had problems 174.74 in Neverwinter Nights 2 (nothing serious, but the game stuttered a bit after an hour of play or so). That said, a lot of people like these drivers so if you don't play this particular game you can give it a try. It doesn't do anything for WEI though -- I checked and the Aero performance is still at 4.7.

Run Windows Update and look at the optional downloads. Doing this with Vista Home Premium got me the 167.59 drivers that I still use. If you are not satisfied with them, you can get the beta drivers from laptopvideo2go

174.74 or 169.09 those are the two people usually recommend and I never had a problem with neither of them.

there is no best driver for any video card, there are just ones that do better in certain areas than others. your WEI score will not determine much if your games won't play well because of old drivers. try out 174.74, which is the driver I am using for my 8600m GT which seems to work well with most games.

Stick to the 167.59 this is tested with the Compal mainboard with the NVIDIA 8600M GT 512 version and it will work for all the games and no GPU crashes on to the desktop.

Great, and tested and fixed several issues.
Tested some new hardware, but that's all going to be posted up here one day.
