Just noticed this today, but there is a spot about 4 pixels large that is brighter than the area around it. Really only noticalbe when its displaying bright colors at that spot. Its not dust, but seems more like the matte finish is gone from that spot. I'm not sure yet if its going to bother me yet or not. I have till sunday to return for the smaller defects. wondering if this is a defect, perhaps I somehow scratched it (very unlikely, its round and the brightness difuses out evenly). Straight on its barely noticible. easier to see it from a side view. I can attempt to capture it in a picture if anyones interested. Thanks for any advice

    (HEL-80 wsxga+ matte)

Are you sure it's not a dirty spot on the LCD? Can you post a picture of it?

I'll give it a try pyro, and if it doesn't do anything, I'll try taking a pic.

Wow, that's pretty hard to see. And so tiny. How did you find that? And where on the screen is it?

Perhaps it's an uneven spot in the matte coating like you suggested.

well, thankfully its not really noticable straight on. its really only noticable on angles, and when its displaying brighter colors. I believe I have till monday for the 7 day, any defects return.

Perhaps you should get in touch with your reseller and start that conversation if it's really noticeable.

Again, where on the screen is it? Center? In a corner?

I'm still willing to bet its a pressure mark... I with my mother was still in town because I could show you what happened to her LCD while traveling in the Xmas luggage in a plane... Her went away after a few days, and it was caused by the touch stick (hate those...hate those... hate those... :D )

well, I'm pretty sure I could live with it pretty easily, again it only really shows up on light surfaces, and its about 1.5" up from the bottom, 2" left of center.

It's a bummer though. Now that you've noticed it, it will bother you for a while. Your eyes will learn to ignore it over time though. I had one stuck pixel on my 2nd (of 4 so far) LCDs and it really bugged me for a little while. Now I have to look for it (luckily it was pretty close to the edge).

You may want to discuss options with your reseller. Can't hurt to ask.

Not to look at gloom and doom of everything, but I would suggest trying to get it replaced... it might mark a defect in the screen that may progress over time or eventually cause display failure... While a failure will almost always get a replacement off a warranty, small defects like that getting worse aren't always covered.. Just something to consider, like Chris said, check with your vendor for options.

yeah, I'll at least ask them about it, got it from milestonepc, and they tend to respond pretty quick via e-mail.

Just came home from a trip, and noticed the same thing on my HP laptop -- did a quick Google and found this thread. I'd be curious as to whether or not this issue went away on its own or if you got a replacement ...
