To be honest, i don't really have much computer building experience and no notebook experience. This would be my first notebook
I want to buy the barebone from here http://www.milestonepc.com/states/product_info.php?cPath=281&products_id=1333
and i want to get it to be under 1300 if possible

    from milestone i will get
    barebone is $719
    core2 duo t5500 - $209
    windows xp home - $105
    http://www.royaldiscount.com/wixphoedsp2f.html
    intel wireless card - $39 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EGI97Q...e=380333&creativeASIN=B000EGI97Q&linkCode=asn

    (found some lower prices later)^

    other places
    memory 1 gb - $66 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145012

    hard drive 80 gb - $60
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822153030

    optical drive - http://www.xoticpc.com/product_info.php/products_id/1797?wconfigure=yes

Also note that i can always wait for the deals to come for the parts, but i need the barebone. This laptop is for when I go to college so i do not need to build it right away, im thinking i would build it in the summer

If you guys can find better deals, then post here :)

    Thanks for your help

    Hi
Just a few advice , i am sure new intel chip name Santa Rosa will hit the markt in 2 months and its a new technology for c2o so if you wanna wait it may be in your price range ,
Check discountlaptops.com they have a good price for hel80 call Chembook 4080 and i am sure that 2 years waranty already included in price if they built the system for you is a great value so i won't risk building mine ,that i may save some dollars now and in long term its a lose , they not only will build your system but also will test it twice to make sure everything is working in graet condition and thats hard if you wanna spend almost 1300 or more and if something goes wrong

I would get the barebones asap if they have it instock, since the Matte screen you plan to order is going OOS....maybe in prep for the newer Compal models and for the new intel platform in may

hmmm this has got me worried maybe building barebone isnt worth it. the price at discountlaptops looks good too

milestonepc has a 3 year warranty...so that wouldnt be that bad if something goes wrong right?

discountlaptops ran out of the matte screen T_T

I have one question where do you find parts for notebooks anyway are they the same as PC parts. Sorry if the question is silly but I have allways built PC's never had anything to do with a notebook before

    Regards
