I am a novice with DVD burning, but I just purchased the 3270 and can't seem to figure out how to burn a DVD onto the hard drive (so that I can later burn it onto a blank DVD disk). Is it the software (Cyberlink?), and I need to buy or download new software to do this? Or is there some option I am not seeing?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

More then likely the preloaded software doesn't even really support dvd burning. My 6130 has a dvd burner, but the soft that came with it was useless. It didn't have support for dvd things. So you will need to get a dvd copying program. Just do a search on the forum and you should get some results on it. I remeber a thread on it somewhere, prolly in the software section.

There's a lot of software out there that will burn DVD’s, the two that I prefer is DVD shrink and DVD decrypter. Both software is free and do a great job of burning DVDs to the hard drive.

DVD shrink is great because it will shrink a commercial DVD movie to fit on a single DVD+/-r (most commercial DVD’s are dual layer so you have to shrink them to fit on a standard DVD+/-r). If you have Nero installed it will use it to burn the DVDs to a DVD+/-r. Only drawback to DVD shrink is that it isn’t able to handle Sony's new encryption method so some new DVD’s like spanglish wont work in DVD shrink.

This is where DVD decrypter comes in; it is updated regularly so it can break the new encryption that Sony uses so you can back them up to your hard drive. What’s great about DVD decrypter is that it has its own built in DVD burning software. Don’t need Nero or anything else to burn DVD’s.

I like to use both, when DVD shrink cant backup a DVD due to a new encryption scheme, I’ll use DVD decrypter to extract the ISO and then open the ISO in DVD shrink to compress the DVD to fit onto a single DVD+/-r disk.

These are my personal preferences but it’s up to you to decide what's best for you.

Hopefully this helped and made sense, If you need some more suggestions or further help then let me know.

Oh and one more thing, I do not condone in any way shape or form the illegal copying of movies or any other intellectual properties! ;)
