Hi all...
I'm in the process of buying a NOX, I'm however a bit unsure about a few thnings. Here are the specs:
P8400 2,26Ghz 1066Mhz FSB 3MB Cache 25Watts (120641)
4 GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC6400 800MHZ (130135)
DVD-RW / CD-RW SATA (150127)
Keyboard Nexus/Nox DK BLACK (170200)
6 Cell Nox/Nexus black (250327)
Intel WiFi 533AN / ANBG / 450Mbit (260034)
WSXGA+ 1680x1050 ZBD + NVIDIA® 9650M GT 512MB GDDR3 (100358)
250GB 7200rpm SATA Harddisk (140037)
My major concern is the resolution is the screen. Will the 9650 card be able to run games at the resolution?
The next best choice (and only other) is a 1280 x 800 resolution. Isn't that a bit to low for a 15,4" screen?
I plan on running a lot of new games on it (WAR, Starcraft II, Spore and Diablo III).
Any advice would be appreciated...

You would probably have to lower res durring gaming to 1440x900 to acheive playing at better settings but IMO its really not that bad
-
I play Age of Conan on high, distances lowered and shadows off on 1680x1050 and specs as below. So you should be able to run at 1680x1050 on pretty high settings

If I'm not mistaken...
1280x800 = better framerates ingame but less space in Windows (icons, window size, etc)
1680x1050= the opposite
I'm not really sure if this logic I'm gonna follow right now is right or wrong but if you think of it, 17" is 1024*768, 19" is 1280*1024... bear in mind that I used desktop resolutions. It's just that people are exagerating their resolutions on laptops IMO, a bigger resolution isn't all that necessary for games. I've got a 19" desktop monitor atm and its width is 1280 pixels, that 15" laptop will have the same width, though it's height will be smaller, still... 19" => 15" I fail to see why people would want anything bigger than that :O
What I am sure of however is that 1280*800 in my opinion is just fine to play on, haven't noticed any noticable improvements on bigger resolutions, only less frames (maybe a bit crisper but it's not worth it imo) -
Well I have ordered a Mythos, which is the same except the color. And I first choose the low-res ( 1280x800 ) and then later regretted it. I sent a mail to zepto and they were nice enough to change it for me
I'd rather play games in non-native resolution than having to work whit a small workspace. Then again I'm going to run Ubuntu on it so there really aren't an abundance of games available.
Or you could just run the games in 1680x1050. Higher resolution does make games look better. Instead you could turn off some effects -
Ordered a Nox, and I went with the 1680x1050, as I think the workspace is worth the decrease in frame rate. I honestly am only a casual gamer and running in non-native resolution or medium settings for newer titles isn't a concern for me.
Should be receiving it this Friday! -
Well I've decided to go for the low res screen, since I'm only gonna use it for surfing and playing games. Also I might get a NEXUS model instead (since it's a bit cheaper for the same specs). But the danish special offer ends today on the NEXUS and I don't have the money for it until monday (so I hope a new offer will come along). As for the HDD, I decided to save a little cash on that to and take a 320 GB (5.400) instead, as I understand it there is very little difference between the 320 (5.400) disk and the 250 (7.200) disk.

Data transfer rates are pretty much the smae on 5400 and 7200 disks, and large 5400 might even be faster in that part, but 7200 has faster search speed altough the diffrence for casual use isnt really noticeable ('least not for me)
