Hello, I am hearing this high pitch buzzing sound coming from my computer, not sure exactly what it is. I heard the thread about headphone buzzing sound, but I am not sure if that is the problem because I do not sue headphones. It is just a high pitch buzz/noise coming from the computer. Just wondering if anyone have this problem or is it just my laptop. Thanks!

I'd say something's incorrectly assembled. Try pressing on the keyboard/palmrests, moving the screen etc, and see if the noise goes away.

It's not a bug/problem of Compal, or any other notebook manufacturer. The cause of the noise is Intel's advanced power management features (so the chipset). My EL81 (uses Intel ICH7) also has the same noise.

But we're lucky, there are several solutions (workarounds) for this problem. Check the link below, I think this is the best solution of them all:

There is also a way to get rid off the noise by disabling USB power saving feature from the device manager, but it didn't work for me.

Thanks! it works, but is there any other way to fix this without using any programs? I don't really like using a lot of programs, but if i have to i will.

You can also get rid off the noise by disabling USB power management feature. It can be done from the "device manager".

Under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers", double-click one of the "USB Root Hub"s and find the "Power Management" tab. There you'll see a checkbox saying "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", uncheck the box and click OK button.
