Hi all im new to this forum so be gentle

i have a Compal CL51 with Pentium M 1.3 Ghz laptop it developed a fault gradulally now it wont start just the fan comes on on then goes off.

i have bought a second hand base inc motherboard from a CL51 Celeron M and also bought a Pentium 1.6 Ghz CPU.
i have put the pentium chip in it the laptop starts up however doesnt get very far just says centrino etc i have pressed F2 or F12 i can briefly see some info then it dissapears.

    1. can i use a celeron M motherboard and put a Pentium M chip in it?
    2. i am using my old hard drive from the original CL51. it has XP on it.
    3. do i need to get to the BIOS to tell it now has a pentium chip in it?
    4. what am i doing wrong

    any tips advice please help

    much appreiacated

    thanks

Put the celeron back, upgrade the bios is there is a new version. Try to put the old p3 on the new board maybe it still work.
