Didn't you have one of these for a few weeks? If you did, how did it compare to the eMachines unit you had?

Well Brian,
I am currently still using an Averatec 3150HD right now. My company has held on to the the eMachines 5312 notebook to use for presentations. Both units are powered by an AMD Athlon XP-M processor. The eMachines unit has much more power, a wide-sceen display and double the hard drive and memory of the Averatec. But considering the size and weight of the Averatec, it is a completely different class of machine, a "sub-notebook". While the eMachines notebook is a thin and lighter type, it is much larger in size (to accommodate the larger display). The eMachines M5312 weighs in at 6.5 lbs., while the Averatec 3150HD is a mere 4 lbs. Both machines do OK on battery life, but the Averatec squeezes out almost one more hour, usually offering about 3 hours of runtime per charge. Both units include integrated Wi-Fi and DVD/CDRW drives.
