    Mannnnnnn is this bugging me.
I have windows vista ultimate and an HEL80..

It seems that when it gets too hot it shuts off...well..this is good i supposed and smart... but sometimes it doesnt even feel hot. Are there some settings i can check off so that it doesnt turn off if it doesnt absolutly have to?

    anyone else have this prob?
    thanks

I dunno if I would mess with the auto shut-off mechanisms in your laptop, perhaps somethings IS legitimately overheating inside your notebook, but you can't, for whatever reason, feel it. Have you checked your fans to see if it's not blocked by dust or the intake valves?

don't assume Nview turned back to normal, just double check to be sure.

Take the fan off, you'll probably see a lot of dust from the inside.

i've checked and double checked and triple checked,
it was the first thing i checked after the first time it shut off.

its like...brand new.. and ive already checked for dust, and there really isnt any to be worried about.

and yea... seems like a vista problem, fans just don't turn on full. would updating the bios help??

Maybe. With my laptop, the Compal HGL30, they had to come out with BIOS versions that made the laptop's compatible with Vista. Maybe yours is similar. Just be aware of the risks of BIOS flashing, if you aren't already.

Check out our cooling guide and see if there is anything in there that helps you out. I remember reviewing the HEL80 last year and I didn't have any overheating problems.
