I ran crysis on my desktop which has a Core 2 runing at 2.4 and a C*** ATI 2600 video card.

It plays loads better than my 6625WD which has a 1.66 core 2 and the nvidia 8600m GT.

Both systems have 2GB ram and SATA 7200 drives.

So is the CPU the bottle neck of my laptop 6625wd?

If so would Zepto fit a new one or can I upgrade it?

The laptop is about 3 weeks old.

    Thanks

depends, whats your operating system on desktop, whats the operating system on your laptop

if desktop is XP and laptop is Vista then thats why, crysis on vista runs in DX 10 mode which causes it to run poorly, if so youl have to force crysis to run in dx9 mode in vista

Even if the desktop and laptop hdd is same rpm, the 3,5" is faster than the 2,5". This is also the case with the CPU, the laptop cpus has to generate less heat than the desktop one, because the cooling system. This is why they are much more expensive than the desktop, a 2.4 GHz DUal COre for the laptop will go around 400$ against the E6600 2.4 wich goes around 250$. Imnot 100% shure about the performance drop, but it seems logical. Also even if there is barely no diffrence in performance, a drop from 2.4 to 1.66 is quite noticable...

    Also what blackbird said.

    Both machines are XP.

It just seems like the Laptop isnt cutting it to run crysis.

Are you running the game at full resolution on both machines?
Are your desktops screen resolution also 1680x1050?

    No

My desktop and laptop both running at 1024 x 768

Whats the best res for the 6625wd as the native is far to high for this game.

As for the video settings, you have them maxed? If so, try putting the dynamic light and shadow to medium, it reduces the load alot if you are eg at a grassy field with the wind blowing (I had this funny incident when I tried to lift off with a helicopter in Battlefield 2 at a really grassy field in the middle of the woods, fps dropped to 10-15 when it normally is over 50 and it started to lag as hell, and the result was a straight crash into the nearest tree :p
