Hi, I'm wondering what people's CPU temps are like? I have a T7700 (the 2.4ghz model) of the IFL90 and it gets really hot, really easily.

After about ten minutes of playing Team Fortress 2 it gets up around 85 Celsius (at which point the CPU throttles back and makes the game unplayable). And it idles around 65 - 70 Celsius.

Are these normal temperatures? I'd like some feedback so I know if it's reasonable to have mine looked at or see if I can apply some new thermal paste myself if it was done badly.

    Thanks for your help.

Those temps seems a little high. Do you have a notebook cooler? Read the cooling guide to get some tips about how to cool your laptop.

I have a T7600 2.33GHz and idles around 45-55C. I would say that your temps are too hot for idle.
    Good luck with it.

What kind of surface are you using your laptop on? Are your vents blocked?

Not an issue of surface. I actually have a CPU cooler I use it on. It's an RMA'd laptop (I destroyed the original with a bad BIOS update) so I'm guessing they didn't put the artic silver on this one or did it sloppily. Is it hard to get to the CPU and remove the heatsink on the IFL90?

Nope it's just a matter of opening the cpu panel and removing 3 screws.

Well it looks like I'm going to go ahead and open up my laptop and see if I can see why the CPU is so crazy hot all the time.

Does anyone have a link to any pictures of where the CPU is or how I go about opening it? I want to be careful that I'm not damaging it as I've only ever worked with desktops before and haven't applied thermal grease to a laptop.

    Thanks!
