    1. I have a ct14-A0. Doesn't have turbo, I have the ability to make the same change to the hardware setting mentioned in the ct-15a1 thread, would this help me with the fan as well?

    2. As far as the fan issue, I don't mind a fan, I mind the high pitch noise it makes. My main question about the fan: is it a hardware issue (can I replace the fan so it doesn't make the high pitch sound)?

    3. Any BIOS updates out there? I didnt see a fan option in the BIOS.

I really like the laptop. This is really the only issue I'm having that's pissing me off. Fan turns on with browsing and light use.

    109 views and nada?

ok, ill keep this going on my own.

after googling fan noise, ive managed to tweak a couple of things and gotten my cpu usage way down on 1080p videos. bad news is the fan still spins up and whines even at 10-20% cpu usage. youtube 1080p videos sit around 10% or less, quicktime up around 20%.

i also noticed that the fan spins less when watching videos in fullscreen mode as opposed to windowed.

still spins on normal browsing and using office.

    Lol. Me too.

What power settings are u using? Have u made any changes or adjustments?

To play the games, did u maximize performance on the hd4000?

well i have to admit it might be considered unplayable to have frequent freezes and extreme choppiness

but i am playing strategy games. the games themselves look outstanding on the screen.

even though this is not an ips screen its a near ips screen. in all honestly ive owned a lot of laptops and this is the best screen ive had.

I would describe the viewing angle as.... complete. viewable and readable from any angle. not a full ips its the near ips technology.

the ct 15 screen is probably outstandding.

i googled overclockng the hd 4000 and i installed the intel tweak utility but i have not used it yet.

my power settngs and everything are stock.

I found a solve to the high pitch of the fan! this solve also tells me that it is something that can be fixed:

When the fan starts squealing, hold down the zero key. the more pressure, the less the squeal. now i know this is not a permanent fix and i dont expect u or i to do this every time, but it does let me know that it is a problem with something being too loose and maybe tape or tightening might help.

Now as for the frequency of the fan, i do not have a solve or an explanation other than the fact that it gets triggered at 54-55 degrees Celsius.

let me know what u think.
