My computer at home has 2560x1600 on dual dvi. Can I just buy a VGA to D-DVA adaptor and connect it to my 30" monitor for 2560x1600 resolution?

    nope.

the Arima W840 DI only has VGA and HDMI out, which can only support up to 1920x1200 (WUXGA).

you need a Dual Link DVI port to output 2560x1600 (WQXGA)...

... only a few notebooks have Dual Link DVI:
    - Apple Macbook Pro's
    - Clevo's high-end models
    - Dell M1730

    a VGA to D-DVI adaptor isn't enough?

you need a d-dvi port on the notebook to work?

The Whitebook would be able to support 2560x1600 over HDMI. The only problem is that there is only a couple of 1600p monitors out there that has an HDMI 1.3 port and those monitors are a bit pricey. You'll need a HDMI 1.3 compliant cable as well.

...and there aren't any converters from HDMI 1.3 to D-DVI yet.

    I have the 30" Dell 3007WHP and the 24" Dell 2405.

I guess I'll keep my Q6600 8800gtx computer. I wanted to sell it and use my OCZ.

i looked but couldn't find any one running this monitor (3007WHP) at anything higher than 1920x1200 and it's also a discontinued model.

if you look at the few sites that talks about the 3007WHP.... it says that its got ~4000000 pixels
    ..... which is equated by 2560 x 1600.

The 3007WHP was directly replaced with the 3007WFP-HC.

yea I have the 3007wfp-hc 30" and always run it at 2560x1600

The new model has a HDMI output on it....I may upgrade to that if I decide to sell my Q6600/8800GTX desktop

Anyone with OCZ using a 30" with 2560x1600 yet? If so, what did you buy to make it work?

Can someone verify does the HDMI 1.3 -> DVI cable have dual link capabilites? I understand the 1.3+ part supports up to 2560x1600 but is the DVI side dual link?

I need to make sure it works before I buy it because I have been reading different things on other threads.

(this is just to let you know they now have them) not really. go to your local store and get it. it doesn't work, take it back. then your 100 percent sure it works or doesn't work. i do it all the time when i suspect something may work. only thing im out is a short drive if it doesn't....
