That's my main concern, the Amazon specs say it has a max of 8gb but 4gb installed but I've read other places that say the RAM is soldered onboard... any actual owners know if this can be upgraded?

    thanks

Hi, I have asked Vizio company to know if it is possible to upgrade the Ram. Result, it is not possible to upgrade the RAM, it is soldered on the motherboard.

This isn't surprising, almost all the ultrabooks have memory soldered on the board due to the thin form factor.

You cannot upgrade the ram for the 100th time on any CT model OK. Never ever ever.

Amazon.com: VIZIO Thin and Light CT15-A2 15.6-Inch Laptop: Electronics

amazon says the ram for the ct15A2 is "4 GB of installed DDR3 RAM (8 GB maximum)"

doesn't that mean i can upgrade the ram? There is no option to upgrade the RAM when you order the laptop online or through the site so doesn't that mean u can upgrade the ram via opening the computer....
    please hlep!

What is so hard to understand about this, YOU CANNOT UPGRADE THE RAM ON ANY OF THE CT MODELS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DESIGNED THAT WAY. SO THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THIS IS POSSIBLE. AMAZON MESSED UP THESE THINGS HAPPEN. PLEASE GIVE IT UP YOU PROBABLY DON'T EVEN NEED IT.

I doubt you do more than me on a laptop and 4gb is fine, unless your needing to run multiple vm's I can't really see why you can't just live with 4gb.

    Hi,

Are you sure you can't upgrade the RAM? Amazon says they allow 8GB maximum, and I think amazon is usually right.

what about downloadmoreram.com ? I have had friends who have used this and who say it is pretty effective - not quite as good as real hardward RAM but still a noticeable improvement.
