Hi, the title says it all.
I've been having a pain in the butt trying to get my old DVD+R data discs to play on an old IBM R31 thinkpad that I have.
I have the Slimtype DVDRW SSM-8515S drive on my compal HEL-80.
The R31 thinkpad drive is : a mat****a dvd-rom sr-8176
I'm using nero burning rom -
I tried burning in DVD-ROM UDF mode v1.02 - but doesn't recognize...
I ran the disk under dvdinfopro to see what the booktype was, and it still said DVD+R : which most likely will not play in older laptop dvd-rom drives...
basically, trying to have dvd-rom data play on this other notebook...
The DVD+R brand I'm using are the Fujifilm DVD+R Taiyo Yuden style...
Thanks for your help!

i do not believe that drive lets you do that it has nothing to do with the notebook itself its the drive that allows it or not.

Yeah you're right zfactor - it's been a while and I completely forgot about many dvd drives need to have the "booktype-bitsetting" feature to use in older dvd-rom / standalone players.... It's been forever since I needed to use it.
Many can do dual layer discs to dvd-rom / some need special firmware patches - some drives such as plextor have the feature built in - anyways, it can be done - but on a drive by drive basis feature as zfactor said -

Try looking for some hacked firmewares on CDFreaks.
Can we set DVD-ROM booktype on DVD+R via compal-hel80?
