Hey all, I recently bought a replacement "Compal HEL80 Hannstar MOTHERBOARD LA-316" to fix my broken laptop. I brought it to a repair shop and they installed it for me and told me it worked fine, but I don't think my system is recognizing the video card. Whenever I scroll in a browser the whole page refreshes line by line and none of the proper display menus are there in advanced display... I think it's just going on basic VGA from the motherboard itself.

Problem is I don't know what kind of video card came with the motherboard, so I don't know what kind of drivers I'm supposed to get (or if that's even the real problem). Is there an easy way to find that out? I have sent an email to the seller but I'm not sure if he'll know and he's slow to reply usually. I tried installing the original drivers my computer came with from the CD they gave me but none of them seem to work on this new mobo... I Started with the chipset drivers and it said there was a file missing... from where I don't know. Then I tried the video drivers and when I would click "run" nothing happened at all.

What can I do here? Should I be posting this somewhere else? Thanks all.

Took a gamble on Nvidia go 7 series drivers and they appear to have worked.

    Nevermind! :)
