I will be using the laptop for AutoCad, Gaming, Internet
No FPS games, mostly RTSs,RPGs adventure. Starcraft 2

I've nailed my choices down to these 2.

    Nexus A15 from Zepto
    http://uk.zepto.com/Shop/Notebook.aspx?notebookid=1148
    Configuration
    4 GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC6400 800MHZ

    No OS
    DVD-RW / CD-RW SATA
    Keyboard Orion/Nox UK BLACK
    WXGA 1280x800 + NVIDIA® 9650M GT 512MB GDDR3

    Intel C2 DUO P8600 2,40GHz 1066MHz 3MB-25Watts

    OR the Rizeon S97V-GT Laptop
    http://www.rizeon.com/laptops/rizeon_s97vgt.php

15.4" Wide Screen WSXGA+ (1680x1050) Glare Type Display
Warranty: 1 Year Collect and Return Insurance Backed Service
    Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz 3MB L2 Cache 1066MHz FSB 25W
    Memory: 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 PC-6400 800MHz - 2x2GB
Hard Drive: 320GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 9650M GT 1024MB
    Optical Drive: DVD Super-Multi(DVD-RAM/-R/-RW/+R/+RW)
Sound Card: High-Definition Audio with 3D Effect & Full Duplex
Wireless Card: Intel Wifi Link 5300AGN Wireless Card
    Turbo Memory : None
    Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5
    Carry Case: None
    Optical Mouse: None
    Productivity Software: None
    Security Software: None

The differences are the nexus has the 9650GT GDDR3 but lower resolution 1280 x 800

Rizeon has 9650GT GDDR2 but better resolution of 1680x1050 and is £30 pounds cheaper

Will there be massive difference in gaming performance between the 2 cards, I've also heard zepto customer service isn't the best.

The nexus can be upgraded to take 8gig ram while the rizeon can only take 4 gig max unless a bios update is made, which probably wont happen.

Is MXM technology a big deal ? They are both MXM based the rizeon is MXMII not sure what the nexus is. Does anywhere actually sell mobile cards you can install?

    Many thanks for the help!

    Yesterday I've benched this GPU's:
    GO9600M GT 512MB DDR3 @ 1280x800 with 3D mark '06: 5520 points
    GO9650M GT 1024MB DDR2 @ 1280x800 with 3D Mark '06: 4900 points

DDR3 is much better than DDR2, even if that Rizeon has got 1024MB GPU-memory!

If I were you I shouldn't buy a Zepto Nexus A15 with the 9650M GT..
The 9650M GT costs extra money which you could put in the screen!
I should go for the Zepto Nox / Mythos A15 with the 9600M GT!
Than you can pick an WSXGA+ screen with 1680x1050 resolution!
And the difference between the GO9650M GT and the GO9600M GT....
pff you can OC your GO9600M GT to 9650M GT speeds!!!

So imho the best solution for you is:
But a Zepto Mythos / Nox A15 with a 9600M GT (instead of that 9650M GT)
put an WSXGA+ screen in it, and it easily beats that Rizeon with DDR2 memory!

(and I should go for a 7200RPM'er HDD! In games the loadingtimes are much better)

    G'luck!

EDIT: And you could take a look at www.mxm-upgrade.com for GPU's! (or eBay ftw!!)

    I agree with CLB-NL. Just take the 9600M GT with DDR3. The 9650M GT has a 55nm die shrink but DDR2 s*cks nice ;)

    1) Bigger resolution isn't better for gaming, if you game on high resolution you put more stress on your graphics card. So the lower, the better performance but if you still want to have a quality picture you need to game at native resolution. Conclusion: gaming-wise, the lower the native resolution, the better.
You use Autocad however so you might actually need the bigger resolution, this makes perfect sense ;)
If I go to the configuration page I can select this though (for the Zepto):
    WSXGA+ 1680x1050 ZBD + NVIDIA® 9650M GT 512MB GDDR3
(Belgium), maybe it'll be around sometime soon for your country?

Between the 2 cards, DDR2 and DDR3 make a huge difference, so yes.

    2) Not sure what version of Vista/XP you plan to use but bear in mind that you need a 64bit version to support more than 3gb of RAM.

EDIT:Ouch.. my bet, you meant the Nexus, not the Nox ;)
The ideal thing is to take that Nox with 9650GT but the 9600m GT will still beat the Rideon

Thanks for the reply guys, its a tricky one the nexus is alot more expensive then Rizeon. I reckon the screen is important for me because of using CAD it will be better with the higher resolution.
So the 9600GT GDDR3 is way better then the 9650GT GDDR2? I thought they would be similiar? no?

I think this novatech is probably the best for me it has the 9600GT GDDR 3 good resolution and CPU , just wish it didn't have the slide show thingy!

No! Just like I said they aren't comparable! DDR2 vs DDR2...
And 1024MB memory.. pfff a 9650GT doesn't use it all... So buy a DDR3 GPU!
