Can you change the apps that the hotkeys in the IFL90 launches? Like the heat-sensitive buttons that say WOW autio and WOW video, and while we're at it the mail and web browser keys. I find the programs useless and would like to set them to launch apps I use regularly.

We have talked about this in the past, and it is not possible, it would be great to even shut them off those suckers but it is not possible.

Then again the will to help you is always nice, but sorry no solution.

Albeit it's not done, but can it? Like just writing some script and flashing some memory around?

possible when writing you own app, but this will cost you time and what would you like to change is this a big change or just a small feature.

I just wanted it to launch apps I use frequently. It seems C:\Program Files\Compal\WVAMain.exe is needed for the WOW buttons to change settings, so cross out replacing the .exe.

Edit: I am trying to program a launcher that detects when the buttons are pressed, I have gotten the mail and mute buttons to be programmed to launch apps, so there is good hope I might be able to make the WOW buttons launch apps you want. :)

Edit 2: Found the key modifiers, but for some reason it isn't being read. I have gotten the secondary keys to work (like mute/unmute, the media keys etc.) and mail, mute but it won't work. I'm stumped but I will keep trying. If anyone wants to give it a go, the key codes are 182 and 183.

Edit 3: I might be wrong with those key codes. The web browser is 172, the email is 180 and the mute is 173 (confirmed).

How did you get control of the mail and mute buttons?

I used the key codes above to launch an app when my program detects the button (key code) has been pressed. The numbers are random as you can see, web browser is 180 and mail is 172 even though they're next to eachother, and that's why I think I am wrong with the two WOW buttons.

I understand, but did you write an application to do so? Can you share it?

Yes I wrote it, and no I cannot share it. I haven't made it customizable (to choose which apps to launch) I am only using it as proof-of-concept to see if the keys are indeed custmomizable. If I cannot get the two WOW buttons to work, I guess I could work on a program to customize hotkeys, but I am mainly focusing on those two buttons, and using all the other buttons relative to them.

There's a thread in the Zepto forum about changing the hotkey actions, I've not tried it on my IFL90 yet because i couldn't find the codes of the keys (although I didn't look very hard.)

This is the thread, you can find the nice guide at post #13. You may find it usefull.

That guide is really confusing. I am now working on a program to customize the web browser, mute and email keys but the problem I see with that is it will still launch the programs they're assigned to. I could kill the program it launches as it starts, but say for example someone has Firefox open, it will close that. Do you guys have any ideas around this?

You can change the mail and web browser buttons with a Microsoft-created program called TweakUI.

Don't know if that helps, but I am using linux, and finally got all five special keys right to the power button to execute whatever I program to them.

It is possbile to change all of the hot tap buttons!

Just install Microsoft InteliTypePro and choose as Keyboard the 3rd in the List..

After restart you can change everything!

hrmm, I have an acer aspire 5920

installing intelitype enables configuration of some keys, however the keys on the right do not work, they light up but not functioning (clean installed vista!)

tried various keyboard layouts but keys just do not work, and the acer arcade button tells me i have to install ms photo editing software to use the photo editing keys?
