    Or notebook hardware control is a more popular app. The i8k is mostly for 8000 series Inspirons, which are pretty much ancient by now.

    Plus its got a lot more useful things than just temp control.

    NHC doesn't read CPU temp, i think it has something to do with ASCI...
    The forum is mainly in german so i don't understand nothing..
    Strange coincidence or not, after installed and then removed NHC, UT2004 went from 40 fps to 10fps... "Rummage" to much, normally gets bad results. Tomorrow i'll install Cyberlink Power Cinema to see if it goes well with the TV card and then FORMAT, i'll try to install MAC OS X dual boot with XP.

    any other possible temperature reading software?

    Try speedfan if for some reason nhc doesnt work for u, which is quite strange.

    you can read CPU temp with your NHC?? Which version??

    Correction of the last post: It's not ASCI but ACPI!! Sorry.

    Any HEL80 owners can run the latest NHC release?? Don't you get a "ERROR! Object reference not set to an instance of an object."??
    I got this error at NHC start up and to avoid it i deleted the files in the ACPI subfolder. Now it runs but no CPU temp.

    oh hell...

    Yes, most if not all pple can do indeed read the cpu temp, and the latest version as it comes out. Try reinstalling it and see what happens. If not like I said try speedfan.

    Eh, not with the Compal HEL-80. Everest Ultimate Edition and CoreTemp are the only programs I've seen which are able to read the CPU temp.

    Maybe you should realize that each notebook is different...

    I believe my GPU temps only showed up after I flashed the bios on my laptop. They're in Coolbits now.

    yup, got the same issue.
    anyway, i found that disabling ACPI Control in settings.xml is enough to avoid that error.
    <ACPI>
    <Disabled value="0" />
    <ControlSystemEnabled value="0" />

    however it still does not detect CPU temp :(
    i think that we need a correct .cs file for ACPI functionality on HEL80..

    You could also just rename or delete the ACPI subfolder. And we need a .cs file for the Compal indeed. Would be awesome if someone knew how to write such a file.

    NHC causes the same graphics problems for me too. I've read about the same problem for other people with hel80s also. Too bad...I really liked the program...

    hi

    good news everyone... i started writing an acpi file for the HEL 80 to work with nhc.

    for now reading the right cpu temp works fine. reading the diplay brightness is no problem, but setting doesnt work...

    controlling the fan is really hard. i dont see any solution for this one.

    i do some further testing and post the .cs file tomorrow or so.
