The only bottleneck I see is the HDD. You could lower the capacity and get a 7200 rpm drive, other than that it looks very nicely config'd.

thanks for the very quick reply :)
wouldnt a 5400rpm 250gb drive be the same as a 7200rpm drive as the bigger the faster the hdd?
Also do you know if zepto do finance options in the UK?

Not quite, for notebook hdd's when you go up in capacity you have to give up some speed. AFAIk the highest capacity for a 7200rpm 2.5inch hdd is 160gb from Fujitsu, so as you can see its speed vs storage. So depending on how big your files are you may decide speed over storage.

As far as financing options, not sure about that, I would check their website. I can't imagine they wouldn't but you never know with companies these days.

mmmmm thanks for the input, i really need the 250GB hdd as i have a lot of files! will it bottleneck the system too much?

There will be a difference but probably not THAT noticeable. It would be different if it were 4200 vs 7200 so you'll be happy with it.

I don't use touchpads so I can't comment. I dislike those things with a passion, I have a little portable mouse that I carry that about the size of two Zippo's put together, works wonders.

Slow hard drive and very expensive, Rizeon offer that spec for £1280.

Theres a whole thread about this, i think i might have started one i cant remember, 5400 is rubbish though.

What about all these 200gb 7200 rpm hard drives around, or are they bigger than 2.5 inches, they seem to fit in the same laptops.

Where did you get this from, on the uk zepto site all i see is 1280*800, with no option to change it, am i missing something?

This machine is overly powered IMO. Of coarse, there is no such thing.

According to some sources, the zepto site isnt very up-to-date and most info is wrong, i was told that the screen is a WSXGA+ 1680x1050 glossy screen.

Not a very slow hdd lol! the bigger the more space and faster drive! also the price includes VAT, delivery and other charges :)

No, a 5400rpm hard drive is not a faster drive than a 7200rpm hard drive

    So does the rizeon

My point is that I stated AFAIK which is not a definite statement, so as stated if you qoute others, please be sure that you include ALL of their statements. Comments taken out of context can be misleading...

You didnt quote AFAIK, its not clear at all. Learn how to use the forum tools or at least say its a quote and use "". Your comments are misleading when you dont structure them correctly.

Actually in post #7 made by you, in the second section you quoted me as saying "the highest capacity for a 7200rpm 2.5inch hdd is 160gb from Fujitsu" without the AFAIK, which is out of context. If you look at my original post #4, it included the phrase "AFAIK", (as far as I know), so it would be you who is misqouting, henceforth why I brought it to your attention.

However, I do appreciate you adding the additional drives that mentioned that are different than the one I posted, which was the only one that I knew about. ;)

As far as i knew AFAIK was just a spelling error that had nothing to do with the rest of the sentence, it was just a random word thrown in there. Im not misquoting because you didnt set it up properly to begin with, had you said AFAik quoted and used "" or the quote function, i wouldnt have, as you say, taken it out of context.

There is much debate on this, however the general consensus seems to be that as you get HDD's which are larger and larger, the platter density increases causing the HDD to perform better. Thus a 250GB 5400 HDD is much better than a 60GB 5400HDD, and the real world difference between a 250GB 5400 HDD and a 100GB 7200 (which is the largest 7200 capacity Zepto seems to offer) is negligible for anything but perhaps video editing and such.
