Why Crystal Clear!?
Why a 5400rpm'er and not a 7200rpm HD!? -
Max 7200 is 100GB, which is a little small for my needs -
Here's a thread with info on 'crystal clear':

It's a typo. The 6324W only sells with the matte 1440x900 LCD panel.

I'm going down the 6025 WD road
The
Intel Pro/Wireless 4965AGN network card is the better option.
Don't forget DVD write software its under accessories
Vista Business allows you to connect to proper networks small cost diff
Ultimate has better video stuff (if you like the MS approach) -
I ordered the exact same machine, just with 100gb 7200rpm instead. Works great the little I've used it, except for vista mysteriously eating my hdd space.
That price is without tax included, right? -
Thanks for the replies. I gave some thought to the comments, but think I'm going to stick with my original order:
On the HD: i really need more than 100GB, so 7,200 doesn't seem to be an option. I'm gonna stick with the Hybrid over the normal SATA as apparently it boots windows a few sec quicker (but b*gger all else)!
On the screen: matte it would seem to be!
On the OS: I don't really need the features offered by Business, so will stick with HP.
On Nero: thanks for the tip!
I'll submit the order on Sunday evening, so if anyone has any other suggestions - please let me know.

Ive emailed zepto, 160gb 7200rpm drives are already out, 200gb 7200rpm drives out august the 1st
Have you bought it yet? -
Is there any difference between de Wlan from Intel or the one from Zepto?
-
And there is a slightly difference in the chip what's used!
But go for the Intel, it costs a little bit less but it functions very nice! -
-
WTF :-s
here in the Netherlands the Zepto Wi-Fi costs 15 euro more! -
Thats weird, havent seen them charing more for the Zepto chip at any site earlier, but they sure have issues with their websites...

The chipset used on the Zepto Wpro/Z-Pro 300Mbit card is an Atheros AR5008X.

I've understood that if you choose the Zepto chip, your Wifi switch won't work.

Actually ordered the 160GB hybrid 5,400 rpm on the basis that i'll appreciate the quicker boot time and that i do alot of word stuff as well (and i couldn't be ars*d waiting) ... wondering should i change to 7,200 rpm now though!?
-
-
Apparently they have the bios fix now to install faster spus (2.2 and 2.4) according the zepto rep's in these forums. (Rene)

According to a review somewhere, the Samsung Hybrid 160GB 5400 rpm boots vista 8 secs faster than a non-hybrid ... not sure how it would compare to a 7200 rpm -
Thats only becuase its storing past data in the flash memory on the hard drive. Its only going to be quicker at that one thing, although i doubt it will be much quicker than a 7200rpm hard drive. When ever you use the hard drive to access some new data the flash memory wont have any effect the first time round. Its only good for small documents and stuff, if your copying and loading large data files 5400 is slow.

Do you know how much extra they charge for the 160gb 7200 rpm drive?
-
They have 160G 7200rpm in stock now if you're going for th hybrid because of size the 7200rpm is the better option
-
I dont understand what you said
-
-
That was smart.
-
As Zepto doesn't charge dubber anything extra, he didn't need to ask how much extra Zepto would charge.
So he is smart.
And some are not. -

How did you get it free of charge? What country do you live in?
-
It was for an order that had already been placed with a 5400 drive. So it was swapped

So Do most people prefere Matte screens or glossy? I have never heard anyone say that it is rubbish before
-
As far as i can tell the Znote 6324W can come with the "Crystal clear WXGA" screen or the WXGA+. This seems to be the case as the WXGA one is about £43 (approx. $90) cheaper than the WXGA+. Now I have no idea about this but i speculate that that WXGA one is glossy whereas the WXGA+ is matte.
EDIT: In order to change the screen you must choose between the "Value" and "Power" versions of the laptop despite them both claiming WXGA+ the "Power" version appears to change to "Crystal Clear WXGA" when you attempt to customise it. -
-
Matte definetly, reflections make the laptop useless imo.
-
Is the WSXGA+ on the 6625 a matte/glossy screen?
-

It's glossy on the 6625WD and matte on the 6224W/6324W.

Well it arrived yesterday, haven't really had a chance to put it through its paces. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase, my main moans would be with the keyboard. Some keys require a fair old thump to engage (although I guess this might improve with use) and obviously it has the Fn/Cntrl swap - which is just plain annoying. The display hasn't exactly taken my breath away, but does the job. Also, I have a hole in the side of the laptop for a card reader ... I presume I have to buy an adaptor or something to use microSD? Other than that, I'm fairly impressed with my purchase (although the keyboard thing is really p*ssing me off as I type this).

Re the keyboard:
(1) I like Fn where it is. I'm a great user of Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V and I'm not sure how my fingers would like it if the Ctrl key moved to the corner.
(2) The keyboard is longer travel than many notebooks so you have to get used to pushing the keys down a bit further. It's something I'm still having to get used to.
I can't help with the card reader adaptor problem. You might find it cheaper to get a separate USB reader.
