I went to the link based on your post. Looks interesting but i don't understand about the Samsung display (AU and CPT?) Does that mean in Australia and somewhere else? Any idea on pricing for this configuration? (2030)

I called Chemusa yesterday for asking price. The barebook is $995. They can sell you the barebook, but there is no warranty. You take your own risk to build it yourself. This model is not available yet. They told me they would have it in the next month.

What is included in the barebook? That's one area where I haven't delved although I have the technical knowhow to build one of these...what do you have to get besides what they provide?

    Thanks

I'm still trying to figure out if the X600 is comparable to the Nvidia Go 6400 on the 2030

here are some stats between Nvidia's cards..

    ----------------------------------
    Go 6600
    Memory Interface 128-bit

    Memory Bandwidth (GBps)
    11.2 GBps

    Fill Rate (pixels/sec.)
    3 billion

    Vertices/Second
    300 million

    RAMDACs
    400 MHz

    -------------------------------------
    Go 6400

    Memory Interface 64-bit plus TurboCache
Memory Bandwidth (GBps) 5.6 GBps plus TurboCache
    Fill Rate (pixels/sec.) 1.6 billion
    Vertices/Second 300 million
    RAMDACs 400 MHz
    ----------------------
    Go 6200

    Memory Interface 64-bit plus TurboCache
Memory Bandwidth (GBps) 4.8 GBps plus TurboCache
    Fill Rate (pixels/sec.) 1.2 billion
    Vertices/Second 225 million
    RAMDACs 400 MHz
    -------------
based on these specs, the 6400 is alot closer to the 6200 than the 6600.

I can't find similar stats on the X600 since the radeon site uses other measurements.

I saw a Chembook advertisement in a PC magazine, they seem nice. Do they have anything to do with Chemistry? :p

No, the name does not have anything to do with Chemistry, rather it is a Chinese acronym.

So far based on information on notebookdiscussion and notebookforums,

the 2030's 3d benchmarks surpasses the CL56's ATI radeon 9700.. placing it's Nvidia Go 6400 within the class of ATI's x600.

it's 6 cell battery generates 3h45m of life and has a 9 cell option.

has built in web camera and mic

it's rather cheap and comes with a 2 year warranty

    sounds rather good.

    3DMark 03 and 05 Results:
    3065 - 3DMark 03
    1061 - 3DMark 05
    PerformanceTest Results:

    --------------
based on the 3dmark05 score, its GPU is clearly within the class of the ATI x600
