Recently a rattling noise has developed from underneath the keyboard, it occurs every few minutes and last for about 30 seconds, at intervals of 2 seconds. It doesn't have anything to do with me moving the laptop. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be.

Well there arent many moving parts on a laptop. Could it be a faulty hard drive, or optical drive?

Could it be the fan being worn out?
The fan is located under the top-left side of the keyboard if I'm not mistaken.
Sometimes a dust bunny or other muck can be stuck almost in the fan making it difficult for the fan to start spinning, that doesn't account for the clicking sound though.

Yeah the clicking is why I didnt suggest the fan. It could be possible though.

It seems to be happening when a page is loading, so that would fit with the idea that it is a hardrive malfunction. Will I need to send my computer to Zepto to have the hard drive replaced?

It only happens when loading a page/during web browsing?
Not when gaming, writing a paper or something else?

Try running some HD test software. I use this cd sometimes in work, it's free and full of different hardware tests..

You'll have to d/l the image and burn it into a bootable CD.

OK I will try that software out later. It also happens when I am loading files or using Windows Explorer, or if a program has frozen, that sort of thing.

I have the same "problem" with a 6214W. It sounds like it's coming from the left side and the noise is there even if the fan is off. It's definitely not the hard disk (used a different one w/o a change).

That only leaves the optical drive (well, on the right side) - there simply aren't any other moving parts inside the barebone: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3332/3204446259_b83abeca8a_b.jpg

Edit: No, it's not the optical drive either. Best guess is the CPU then.
