Has anyone heard of the compal JHLB2 barebones?

    http://www.provantage.com/intel-khlb2120002~7ITE90M4.htm

It says ATI HD4000 VGA, I'm hoping it's the 4650, but I'm not getting any response from the companies by email. I don't think they even know what the specific VGA is.

I'd hate to buy it and it turns of to be a 4570, or 4350.

The good news is the Manufacturer Part Number: KHLB2120002.

The JHLB2 is typically $80-93 less than the KHLB2 barebones.

No, I would say it's a typo but then again maybe they change it to be... I don't know what. It's clearly a Compal KHLB2 with ATI 4650.

I agree, Provantage made a typo in their title.

    its a KHLB2.

The GPU could have different part numbers if its removable... thats entirely possible.

Yeah, I'm still thinking about getting one and upgrading the screen, but 15.6" LED WUXGA is $200+...

Although I could always get a used Dell 1555 WUXGA, swap the screens and sell the Dell ;)

whoa, and i was thinking of getting the barebones from Avadirect too...

do you think it's possible to change the LCD? I've read that you can only switch LCDs with the same resolution screen ... hmm

    nice find.

p.s. another reason why it's a typo is that "J" is right next to "K" on keyboards, so easily a missed keystroke.

From what I've read the resolution isn't that bad compared to 1440*900 if you move the toolbar to the left or even decrease the DPI.

It is completely possible to change the LCD, but LED 15.6" 16:9 WSXGA or 1080P are rare and thus expensive. Physically they are the same and changeable.

I will probably go with this one until the Compal NBLB2 (1080P ATI Madison )
