According to Compal's specifications, this notebook doesn't support SATA, but after checking the "disassembly guide" of EL81 from their web page, I saw there is SATA support on this notebook. How come? Is it a hidden feature or what?

I pretty sure the EL81 supports PATA(Parallel ATA) HDD. Are you sure you are not confusing the EL81 with the EL80(it has SATA HDD support and a NV go7600)?

Well, I have an EL81, it works with a PATA HDD, but in the manual, there is a SATA port shown near the CDROM connection. I'll try to post a picture from the manual. I'm confused
