    Hello

I know this answer might be a bit late by now since Compal FL90 is an EOL model already but I wanted to share this with you since the Smart Battery posts are old and already closed.

Many people seem to be copying the Smart Battery folder under program files (x86) to program files and that fixes the problem.

However there is an easier way due to the fact that there's a bug in the installer (The Wireless switch Driver doesn't seem to have this bug)

After installing the software, the software copies itself to C:\Program Files (x86)\Smart Battery\ folder
Then, you just look for the "Compal Embedded System Control" device and install the drivers from C:\ProgramData\Vista64

However, after doing this, Smart Battery Driver won't work unless you start it manually. After a restart it might not work anymore.

The fact is that the installer adds a key to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" called SMBTray that points to "C:\Program Files\Smart Battery\SMBTray.exe".

But remember that the software got installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Smart Battery\SMBTray.exe" so that path on the registry key above doesn't exist.

You just have to change the SMBTray key value to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Smart Battery\SMBTray.exe" and it will work like a charm after the next restart without the need of copying the full folder to the 64 bit program files folder.

Hope this helps anybody with a Compal FL90.

    Thanks!

Nice, thanks. I still use 32bit on my FL90, as I "only" have 4GB RAM. There's no real benefit from 64bit, considering the (okay, okay, decreasingly number of) compatibility issues you have to "pay" for.

    But thanks for the pointer

    Hello Dr.Colossos

Thanks again for the spare parts :)
I use 64 bit but I don't seem to have any compatibility issues with the drivers since I adapted some of them myself and work perfectly. No performance issues and even DPC Latency is pretty ok which makes it a perfect computer for real time audio. I have 4 GB RAM as well
