First post here, I've checked back in the compal forums, but i apologize if this has been covered.
Ok, so I'm a bit strapped for budget, so I'm looking to assemble my hel80 myself to save some money(buying the barebones from milestonepc). I'd just like to hear the thoughts of anyone else who's done this, anything I should know about beforehand? Any reason I shouldn't attempt this? I've built several desktops before, though I've heard a laptop is a much more difficult proposition.
I'm also wondering if I'll need anything special for the optical drive, I was going to buy this one off newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827106033
will this work?
Also, are there any guides with photos of the process? I'd like to see what I'm getting into before I attempt it.
Thanks

I am in the same boat as you. The only thing different is I'm looking at the Pioneer DVR-K06 instead of the Lite-On drive. Don't be concerned about building a laptop. I believe rjtech has the install instructions on their site if you want to see what you are getting into.
Good Luck,
Scott
